Before the movies
From 1999, each Pokémon film opened with a short starring Pikachu and friends, such as Pichu & Pikachu's Winter Vacation 2001 and Pikachu's Summer Festival.
Later shorts
Pokémon: Eevee & Friends and Meloetta's Moonlight Serenade continued the tradition.
